Race Report: Kyle Hill - Australian National Series - Round 1 - Penrith, NSW

I didn't have the best preparation coming into this event due to a strained AC joint. But by the time it was race day I was feeling a lot better and had gained more confidence.  I was feeling good during the morning practice, completed what I had planned and was feeling fresh!

For the first moto I had first lane choice for my heat and picked the gate draw 7,6,2. I struggled a little coming from the outside in my first race, otherwise I was happy with the rest of my lap.

It was the same story in the other two motos, I struggled to get spinning at the bottom, but managed to keep it all together and make the quarter final!

For the quarter final I selected gate 1 to start. I started well and was in the top spot down the first and into the second straight. Coming over the second pro jump I washed off a lot of speed and was passed on the second turn, finishing up in 2nd.

I came into the semi feeling good, I started well out of the gate but couldn't get out in front. The lap was pretty clean but I couldn't make any moves around the track and finished up in 3rd.

For the final I had a solid start from the gate and on the hill, however I was moved over at the bottom and had to back off a little. Managed to jump to the inside on the first corner, which took me back up to third, unfortunately I lost a fair bit of speed and came up short on the first pro jump. This didn't set me up well for the rest of the straight and I dropped back to 5th for the remainder of the lap.

Overall stoked with how the weekend went and keen for national titles in a few weeks!
